Parkside Café: Beast Craft BBQ and LaJoy’s Coffee Café
WashU has local restaurants on the Danforth Campus serving unique menus to our students. For today’s blog post, we’re highlighting two excellent on-campus options: Beast Craft BBQ and LaJoy’s Coffee Café.
Nami Ramen
Nami Ramen is a fun spot just across the street from the Danforth campus on Skinker Boulevard that has Japanese food including salads, ramen, rice plates and fried rice.
Coffeestamp at Grounds for Change
Picture this: It’s a cold winter morning in St. Louis on our Danforth Campus. A fresh, homemade hot breakfast with a large coffee sounds perfect to warm you up from the chilly outside air. Luckily for you, your pathway takes you right by Coffeestamp at Grounds for Change in Hillman Hall.
Corner 17

The first location the Chancellor and I decided to visit was Corner 17 at Whispers Café located in the Olin Library.
Confluence Kombucha
For our “in the Lou” food tour we popped into a handful of locations, including Confluence Kombucha. Chancellor Martin and I were thrilled to make this stop because students learned more about the kombuchery and their processes used for brewing.
Sameem Afghan Restaurant
Chancellor Martin and I joined students to venture through The Grove and take in a few stops along the way, one of them at Sameem Afghan Restaurant which offers traditional and fusion dishes.
Steve’s Hot Dogs
What better way to make new students feel at home that than to take them to a local favorite that specializes in an all-American classic like hot dogs!
Turmeric Pan-Indian Cuisine
Down the street from WashU’s off-campus Loft Apartments, Turmeric Pan-Indian Cuisine is the perfect restaurant to frequent with your friends and is a great choice to take your family when they come to visit.
