The Center for Career Engagement (CCE) will join colleges and universities across the country in celebrating National Student Employment Week April 13–17, recognizing the invaluable contributions of student employees and the campus partners who support them.

Throughout the week, the CCE will spotlight the essential role student employees play in advancing daily university operations, from academic support to community engagement, and highlight opportunities for skill‑building, professional development, and career readiness.

“On‑campus employment provides students with an accessible way to gain meaningful experience in a supportive environment,” said Sarah Sims, assistant director of internships & experiential learning. “During National Student Employment Week, students are invited to celebrate their contributions to the university with us.”

Celebrations throughout the week include daily events at the Danforth University Center from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. aimed at celebrating student employees.

Supervisors of student employees are also invited to nominate a student employee for WashU’s Outstanding Student Employee Award sponsored by Campus Life. Nominations are due March 2 at 11:59 p.m.

The CCE also provides robust support for supervisors and campus units that hire student employees including recruitment, hiring, and onboarding tools designed to help departments bring on new student staff efficiently and equitably; supervisor development resources offering guidance on mentoring, training and managing student employees; and Federal Work-Study information to help departments understand funding structures and post positions that support eligible students.
