Position Summary

The Student Affairs Marketing & Communications (SA MarComm) Office is looking for a self-motivated, creative individual to design materials to promote events, initiatives and programming throughout the Division of Student Affairs. This position provides hands-on experience in layout design and possible illustration through all stages of the pre-planning, production and post-production process. The ideal candidate would be organized, a team player, responsive and able to meet deadlines in an efficient manner while being willing to think outside the box. This position is designed for students studying graphic design, art, marketing or a student with other transferable experience.

Primary Duties

  • Create digital and print designs for various projects for the Division of Student Affairs
  • Develop creative & branded designs for, but not limited to, flyers, digital displays, posters and social media
  • Work directly with staff members within the SA MarComm Office and maintain a close working relationship with the Student Affairs Creative Director and Art Director
  • Assist in creative problem solving for SA MarComm Office

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Current WashU undergraduate student (preferred sophomore or junior level)
  • Majoring in art, graphic design, marketing or has other transferable experience
  • Must have knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Must be in good academic and student conduct standing
  • Must be a leader, self-starter, possess initiative and can work independently

Hours and Pay

The Student Affairs Marketing & Communications Office is open 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Interns must work a minimum of 8 hours per week, but 10 hours is preferred, with a two-hour increment minimum per shift. Starting pay is $15/ hour. Work study is preferred, but not mandatory.
