Diwali, a showcase celebrating the Hindu holiday of the same name, is a WashU institution, regularly selling out. Produced by Ashoka, the South Asian student association, Diwali includes energetic dancing (bhangra, chahaat, garba, raas), music, skits and fashion.
Put on by Ashoka, WashU’s South Asian student association, Diwali is an annual, student-run production put on to celebrate the South Asian holiday of the same name, as well as South Asian culture at large. The production includes singing and dance acts, a fashion show, and a skit, as well as a diya lighting piece – a traditional aspect of Diwali’s celebration. Fundraising from the show is donated to a philanthropic cause.
