The Division of Student Affairs at WashU is now the Division of Student Success, a name that more clearly reflects the breadth, impact and purpose of the division’s work.
The change, effective May 20, 2026, underscores a continued commitment to supporting WashU students across the full arc of their experience, from entry through graduation and beyond.
“While the name is new, the work we do remains rooted in the division’s longstanding focus on student development, belonging and well-being,” said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Anna Gonzalez. “We support students in the ways that matter to their ability to thrive personally, academically and professionally. The name ‘Student Success’ better reflects our ‘Why.’ ”
For decades, the Division of Student Affairs has supported student success by delivering housing and residential life, career engagement, leadership development, health and well-being services, and community engagement, while connecting students to a campuswide network designed to help them thrive. As student needs have evolved, so too has the division’s role, becoming more integrated with holistic student outcomes.
The new name acknowledges that evolution.
“Student success is not a single office or moment; it is the result of intentional collaboration, care and connection,” said Gonzalez. “What we do in the Division of Student Success is directly tied to helping students reach their goals and define success.”
