Dear Student Affairs team,
I am thinking of you all and hoping you and your loved ones are safe in the wake of yesterday’s tornadoes. As you may know already, there is moderate damage on the Danforth Campus and more serious damage in the surrounding areas so please be safe and avoid the area as much as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation.
I want to also reiterate what I said at our Professional Development Day on Wednesday–this team gives me joy! It was great to see people celebrate Tom Brounk yesterday, despite us having to shelter in the basement of EADS to continue the party. What a sendoff! Congratulations again to Tom, who has provided such steady leadership to our counseling services. You will be missed!
Our students continue to pursue their dreams of championships as softball has now moved to Lindenwood in St. Charles for their games. You all are exceptional in trying to continue to support our community and making sure that you and your families and friends are safe. Thank you!
Finally, I also want to acknowledge that some of you and/or your friends and families are experiencing damage to homes and neighborhood, power outages, and other property. I am hoping that these are temporary and that you continue to be safe and well despite these circumstances.
As St. Louis recovers from the storm, please know that WashU is a community of support and resilience. Remember that we have resources available, including the employee assistance program that provides free, confidential, 24/7 support. To arrange to speak with a Guidance Consultant, please call 844-365-4587. If you need additional help, please call my office 314-935-4526 or email me at anna.gonzalez@wustl.edu. Our staff can explore options with you.
I appreciate you all.
Warmly,
Anna “Dr. G.” Gonzalez
