Christine Keller, Center for Career Engagement

This workshop is designed to provide middle managers in Student Affairs with the skills and strategies to build and sustain resiliency in their roles. The session will begin with an introduction to the concept of resiliency, emphasizing its critical importance for middle managers who must balance the demands of senior leadership and front line staff.

Participants will engage in an interactive exercise that encourages them to recall a time when they bounced back from a setback and learn a cognitive model that allows them to recognize and dispute harmful thoughts that hamper personal and professional well-being. The workshop will then shift to the professional aspects of resiliency for middle managers, such as fostering a values-based and collaborative team culture.

An essential component of the session will be building a supportive network among middle managers for continuous support. Through group discussions, participants can expect to leave with practical tools and techniques, as well as a strengthened network for ongoing collaboration.
